Who we are

Buganda Land Board was established to manage that part of estate returned to the Kabaka of Buganda under the Traditional Rulers Restitution of Assets and Properties Act. CAP 247 Laws of Uganda. A 350sq mile estate together with the other properties returned to the Kabaka was handed over to Buganda Land Board. Buganda Land Board therefore manages this land by way of encouraging residents to regularize their tenancy under the existing land laws of Uganda.

About Us

Buganda Land Board is a body which was formed by the Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to manage that part of the estate returned to him under the Restitution of  Restoration Act 1993.A 350sq mile estate together with the other properties was handed over to Buganda Land Board to manage.

Buganda Land Board therefore manages this land by way of encouraging tenants to regularize their tenancy on Kabaka's land under the established land laws of Uganda. Buganda Land Board in its efforts of managing, securing, accessing and tracking its land records, it introduced the Department of Information and Communication Technology.

Who we are

Buganda Land Board is a body in Buganda Kingdom entrusted by His Majesty the Kabaka to manage land and buildings returned by the Government of Uganda on 31st July,1993 together with other assets to be returned later.


Our Objectives      

  • To manage land and buildings of His Majesty properly and in way that leads to development of Buganda Kingdom.
  • To streamline tenureship on Kabaka’s land in collaboration with Local Governments, to ensure that tenants satisfy their obligations.
  • o identify land which can be leased to individuals and companies (investors)
